BLUES music, needlecraft and guided walks make up just some of the varied activities taking place across East Lancashire during the August Bank Holiday weekend.

Between August 29 and 31, a series of leisure events will take place in the county.

A full weekend of arts events featuring everything from theatre performances to crafts is taking place in scenic parks in and around Pendle.

A summer exhibition of needlecraft is being held at Helmshore Textile Museum, Higher Mill, Holcombe Road.

And the Great British Rhythm and Blues Festival will be held from Friday to Sunday at Colne Municipal Hall, Albert Road, boasting the legendary Long John Hunter, Sista Monica and The Biscuit Boys.

The Colne Street Festival on Market Street, Colne, will feature musicians, market traders and crafts and the crowds will get the chance to try their hands at circus skills like juggling and stilt walking.

Garden Open Days 1998 will be held at the Barbara Barlows Cottage Garden, The Ridges, Weavers Brow, Heath Charnock, Chorley.

And games and guided walks will be the feature of a festival at the Weavers Triangle Visitors Centre, Manchester Road, Burnley on Bank Holiday Monday.
