A DRUNKEN single dad who was almost three times the drink drive limit was trapped inside his car after demolishing a wall.

Burnley magistrates heard Terence James Frostick, 27, was unsteady on his feet and gave his breath test two and a half hours after he left a pub after having up to nine pints.

Frostick, of Wood Street, Brierfield, was banned from driving for two years, ordered to do 180 hours community service, and fined £140 with £60 costs, after admitting driving with excess alcohol, no insurance and no test certificate, on June 6.

Neil White, prosecuting, said police were called to a road accident.

Frostick had left a pub, failed to negotiate a bend and hit two walls. One of the walls was demolished and Frostick had to be rescued from his vehicle when it overturned.

When police arrived he smelled of drink, his speech was slurred and he was unsteady on his feet.

When Frostick was interviewed he described himself as "an idiot" and said he had had seven to nine pints after arguing with his girlfriend.

Dylan Bradshaw, defending, said Frostick's behaviour had been out of character and he viewed with disgust what he had done.

Frostick would never be able to put the matter behind him and he would live with the guilt and shame of his actions.

Frostick was working for a local firm on a six-month contract and hoped it would prove permanent and take him off benefits.
