Barrow Border Raiders 12pts Lancashire Lynx 21

LANCASHIRE Lynx extended their lead at the top of the league to three points after a comfortable victory over Barrow in an error-ridden encounter at Craven Park.

Lynx suffered two early blows within the first four minutes with the loss of Jayson Pekepo and Steve Gee through injury.

This did not stop Lynx from keeping the Barrow defence under constant pressure.

Andy Ruane gave them the lead with a drop goal but Barrow hit back with a Darren Carter 19th minute try.

But Lynx pressure paid off late in the half when Phil Jones went over to give his side a 7-6 interval lead.

Barrow regained the lead with a Phil Atkinson penalty in the 48th minute but seven minutes later Jones scored a solo second for the Lynx.

Although Barrow were having more of the game in the second half they rarely threatened the Lynx line.

And the visitors, inspired by P J Solomon, edged further ahead in the 64th minute with a Jones penalty.

When Barrow were reduced to 12 men, after Stuart Rhodes elbowed John Donno in the face, the Lynx were home and dry.

Steve Byrne jinked his way over the try line to touch down to seal the victory although there was just time for a consolation try for Darren Wilson.
