REGARDING John Prescott's plans for motorists to use the bus instead of the car.

I wonder if he could tell us how a woman with £45-worth of shopping in various carrier bags and, perhaps a pram with two children, could possibly board a bus with no conductor.

When she arrives at her stop, she may have to cross a busy road, while trying to carry all her shopping, etc.

Also, there are other people with their shopping, but I have yet to see a bus with a platform big enough to cope with such situations.

The list of snags and the cost are endless in such a scheme. Why not just ration petrol instead?
