COUNCILLORS have decided to keep a village's public toilets rather than close them to save cash.
Pendle Council's West Craven area committee voted to retain the loos in Salterforth, near Barnoldswick, despite being recommended to offer them to the parish council and if it did not want them to close and demolish the toilet block.
Earby parish council will be consulted over the future of toilets next to the Station Hotel, Colne Road, Earby, before a decision is made on whether to close them or not. The five other public conveniences in West Craven will remain open.
Councillors were asked to look at the future of public toilets across the borough as part of a move to cut the number of conveniences from 32 to 20 to save cash.
Brierfield councillors also agreed to retain its only public toilets, next to the town hall.
The future of toilets in Colne, Barrowford and Pendleside will be decided today.
