TENANTS who complained about the new heating system in their improved council homes have been offered additional radiators.

A multi-million pound improvement scheme has been carried out on the Stonemoor Bottom Estate, Padiham, but at the Padiham and Hapton area sub-committee several members said tenants had complained that their homes used to be warm but the new heating system had made them colder.

Burnley Council officer Chris Astin said there had been a surplus in the money provided for the renewal of Stonemoor Bottom so additional radiators were purchased.

He said: "Because they were in flats with concrete floors to fit an additional radiator would involve the pipes having to be fitted around the room.

"I think the radiators have been provided in about 15 flats but other tenants would not let the contractors back in."
