Blackburn Rovers Reserves 0 Nottingham Forest Reserves 0

A SPIRITED performance by a depleted Rovers Reserve side was worth three points against a very experienced Nottingham Forest.

But, despite making all the running in the second half, they had to settle for a point.

Rovers lost both Tore Pedersen (thigh injury) and Jim Corbett, stretchered off after being kicked on the ankle, before half time but rallied encouragingly to take the game to Forest.

In the first half, Alan Fettis made a couple of excellent saves, one from Forest's new recruit Nigel Quashie, while David Dunn was always a threat from midfield where he linked up well with Anders Andersson.

Graham Coughlan forced a brilliant save from Mark Crossley with a header and, in the second half, the keeper did well with a Lee Fitzpatrick shot. The closest Rovers came to scoring was on 62 minutes when hard-working Gary Hamilton somehow just failed to connect with a great cross from Martin Taylor.

In injury time, Fettis made a superb one-handed save from Steve Guinan to prevent a case of daylight robbery.

ROVERS: Fettis, Richardson, Pedersen (sub Coughlan 16 mins), Taylor, Croft, Corbett (sub Scates 44 mins), Dunn, Andersson, Fitzpatrick, Hamilton, Thomas. Subs not used: Brown, Williams.
