BLACKBURN Rovers' teenage winger Jimmy Corbett is out of action for three months after it was confirmed that he has fractured a leg.

Corbett was injured playing for the reserves on Monday and examinations confirmed the news that the 18-year-old has a fracture just above the ankle.

"It's a blow but not a body blow because he has not made any appearances in the first team," confirmed Rovers' manager Roy Hodgson.

"He is a player we believe in though and thought would be capable of playing in the first-team."

"We will have long period without him but there's not much we can do about it. There will be injuries in a season and it was an accident."

Corbett has had wretched luck with injuries since moving to Ewood Park for £500,000 following just a handful of appearances for Second Division Gillingham.

But while this latest setback will put his development on hold, the player has plenty of time to fulfill his potential.

"He was signed on a long-term contract and has a long way to go so I feel more sorry for Jim himself," Hodgson added.
