IAM writing on behalf of Mr Daniel Brasseur of Belgium, who is researching into the crew of an RAF Vickers Wellington bomber of 196 Squadron, based at Leconfield in East Yorkshire, which crashed near his home town of Solre-sur-Sambre on the night of July 3/4, 1943.

The crew, which was very experienced, were taking part in a raid on Cologne and were shot down by a German night fighter. All the six crew were killed and are buried at Gossellies Communal Cemetery, in Belgium.

Among them was Flying Officer Eric Douglas Eastwood, son of Harry and Lilian Eastwood and husband of Patricia Mary, who came from Blackburn.

Daniel would very much like to hear from any friends or relatives who can give background information about F/O Eastwood and possibly lend a photograph.

Daniel does not speak very good English so I have agreed to help him.
