STUDENTS and the public will be able to plug into the latest technology after a Pendle high school unveiled its new information technology suite.

West Craven High, Barnoldswick, used its own cash and a government grant to convert a classroom into the IT centre with the latest computers.

The facilities will be open to students during the day and the rest of the community at tea-time and in the evening.

A disabled ramp has been built to the suite and the room is designed to make it easily accessible to wheelchair users.

The school hopes to be able to hire out the room to anyone wanting to run IT courses.

Head Arnold Kuchartschuk explained: "We want to open up the facilities to the community in the twilight and evening hours. Business people, for example, might want to learn how they can advertise their business on the Internet or learn more about information technology."

Teacher Jacqueline Dodd is the information and communications technology co-ordinator.
