A MAN aged 41 from Rossendale was "very poorly" in hospital today after being pulled from a fume-filled car near Clowbridge reservoir.
The emergency services were called by a man walking his dog who discovered the car parked on an isolated track, off Burnley Road, at 6.45am today.
The passer-by is believed to have smashed a window with a stone and opened the car door.
Leading firefighter Steve Grundy, of Rawtenstall fire station, said: "He was semi-conscious when we got to him. We put our resuscitator on him and then paramedics took over."
Police confirmed that a hose had been found leading from the exhaust pipe into the car.
Inspector David Holden, of Burnley police, said the man was taken to Burnley General Hospital and was being transferred to North Manchester General Hospital.
