RUMOURS currently abound that the Bubbles site has already been sold.
We hear that the site has been sold for a retail and leisure development. A retail development on that site is so obviously unsuitable that it is scarcely credible that the council would even consider such a sale. Nonetheless the rumour will no doubt continue to circulate and continue to gather force as these things invariably do.
It would clarify the situation if the city council felt able to deny categorically that such a sale has been agreed or is imminent. It would further set minds at rest if the city council could also rule out the idea of retail development on the Bubbles site.
It would be unfortunate if the city council were unable to put these rumours to flight and we might then be forgiven for being apprehensive about the future of the site.
