STEPHEN WOODCOCK answered the call when St Joseph's Players launched a Manhunt.
"I heard they were looking for actors," said the 38-year-old schoolteacher. "So I just popped in." And Stephen landed a plum role in the Leigh company's first show of the new season "Night Must Fall".
Emlyn Williams' taut thriller will be staged from September 15-18.
Stephen, who hails from Ashton, is in the middle of a busy year on stage. In June he appeared in "The Happiest Days of Your Life" and in November he will be back at Wigan Little Theatre for "Oh What a Lovely War". "Then I could do with a break," he said.
"Night Must Fall" is the first half of St Joseph's popular Autumn Drama Double. In October (6-9) they will stage "Little Women".
Tickets (£3.50) for both plays are now available at Boardman's Outfitters, Bradshawgate, Leigh.
