FLYING is the only way to travel - just ask this disgruntled tawny owl from Yorkshire.
The beautiful bird is definitely keeping to the skies after winging his way from Yorkshire to Preston stuck in the bumper of a lorry!
And the driver only realised he had a passenger when he pulled into a petrol station in Samlesbury.
The bird, believed to be 14 weeks old, is recuperating under the watchful eye of William Higham, nicknamed Barn Owl Bill by his Leyland neighbours.
He said: "The owl had hit the front of lorry in Yorkshire and the driver thought it was dead.
"Imagine his surprise when he stopped near Preston to find the bird alive!"
The next few days will be vital to the tawny's survival.
William added: "The biggest threat to him is shock.
"He is very dazed, but that could be because he is not in his own area. Tawnys are very territorial."
