ON THURSDAY, August 20, my husband and I visited the final resting place of Princess Diana at Althorp Hall, in Northampton.

We arrived soon after 10am and were encouraged to wander round at leisure and stay as long as we wished. All the staff were local people, and, from entering the grounds to leaving, we were treated with such respect and consideration by everyone we came into contact with - from the gentleman on the disabled car park to the young man collecting litter.

I am sure many, many disabled people, a lot of them probably in wheelchairs, would have loved to visit Althorp but perhaps wondered how they would cope.

I would like to reassure them that this would not be a problem. We were so impressed with the way disabled people were catered for, even down to the special car park set within the grounds and the mini coach constantly transporting them from the car park to the hall, etc.

Much criticism has been voiced of Earl Spencer and his plans for Althorp, but I can assure you everything was extremely well planned and in the best possible taste.

We spoke to many visitors like ourselves, who all agreed what a lovely, yet moving experience it had been and credit goes to all concerned.
