SHAKERS 'keeper Dean Kiely has been called up into the Republic of Ireland squad for their Group Eight European Championship clash against Croatia at Lansdowne Road, Dublin next Saturday.

And that means he'll be unavailable for the Shakers difficult Birmingham City clash at St Andrews on the same day.

But Warnock has wasted no time in picking up a replacement in Bradford Park Avenue's impressive young 'keeper Patrick Kenny.

Twenty-year-old Kenny, did superbly for the club in pre-season matches signed forms for the club yesterday and under the guiding hand of the goalkeeping coach Kevin Blackwell is tipped for great things.

In a repeat of two seasons ago the Shakers have been drawn against fellow First Division outfit Crystal Palace in the second round of the Worthington Cup.

The first leg will be played at Gigg Lane on week commencing September 14 with the second leg at Selhurst Park scheduled for week commencing September 21.
