RAMSBOTTOM'S rapid rise up the LANCASHIRE LEAGUE table continued on Saturday with an eight wicket triumph over Accrington.

The Thorneyholme Road club clash was the only game with a result and took the Rams up to third place.

With ten overs lost to the weather Rams skipper Ian Bell and Accrington counterpart Paul Barratt opted to share the remaining 90 overs.

But it turned out to be quite a comfortable triumph for the Rams after Accrington ran up a disappointing 96 for 7 from their 45 overs with sub-professional Steve Titchard top scoring with 22.

In reply the Rams were made to graft for their runs but the result was never in doubt with opener Neil Richardson finishing unbeaten on 41.

It was another disappointing weekend for Stand in the CENTRAL LANCASHIRE LEAGUE as they travelled to Norden with high hopes.

The bad weather reduced the game to 28 overs and the visitors, batting first, tried to set a reasonable target.

But they found the going a bit too tough and with Norden's Johnson bowling brilliantly taking 3 for 18 from four overs they restricted the Stand total to a meagre 83.

Mujtaba's 50 not out was to prove the difference between the teams though with Norden just reaching what was required with a boundary four balls from the end of the game.

Radcliffe's scheduled game at Heywood never got started while Unsworth were also low scorers being shot out for 87 by Milnrow who picked up maximum points despite Sri Lankan professional having Champaka Ramanayake having reduced them to 97 for 6 with bowling figures of 5 for 35.

An unbeaten 76 from Cherry Tree's Paul Reed put the skids under Edenfield in the RIBBLESDALE LEAGUE.

The Blackburn club's 192 for 6 was always too much of a tall order for the villagers who finished on 125 for 6.
