WHEN Margaret Case saw photographs of herself at her son's wedding two years ago she was ashamed of herself.

She was so horrified that she geared herself up for slimming action.

Now she has lost six and a half stones - and is so proud of herself (pictured).

Margaret, 59, of Chapel Street, Leigh, who had been slim all her life, started to pile on the pounds after a hysterectomy operation 12 years ago.

She said: "I was always a big eater. I ate everything put in front of me, but after the operation things changed.

"I grew to a size 22 and felt ashamed of myself. I had no energy and didn't want to go out anywhere. I couldn't wear my nice clothes.

"But it was the pictures of my son's wedding that really spurred me into action. However, it took me 15 months to hype myself up to get going. I tried one club without much success, then I was in a chemist's shop and was told about Helen Barnes' Leigh Slimrite Class. I am delighted to say that I have now got back into a size 14 and weigh 9st 10lb. My family think its fabulous."

"I'm still a big eater, but I have cut out cakes, chocolate and fats and the diet has seemed so natural.

I have another five weeks of weigh-ins then I'll collect my gold card as a life-long member. And I will definitely keep the classes going. I don't ever want to be so fat again.

"A big bonus is that I can now get into my small clothes - and feel a lot better."

Class organiser Helen said: " Margaret joined us last October and by January had lost two and a half stones when she fell and broke her ankle. It meant she was absent from class for six weeks.

"What usually happens in these circumstances is that people give up and use being at the mercy of others and being immobile as an excuse. Not Margaret, she persevered and when she was able to return to class had lost another stone.

"She is a marvellous member of our class, very motivated and keen."

Slimrite classes take place at Leigh Town Hall at 7pm on Wednesday and at Hindley Library on Thursday at 7pm.
