I MAY be from a different generation but my knowledge of '50s rock and roll is good enough to smell a rat when a press release tells me Eddie Cochran is "back in Britain celebrating his 60th birthday."
As Eddie died in a car smash at the height of his fame, I thought it would be the scoop of the century were he to celebrate his 60th in East Lancashire.
It is, in fact, tribute act Darrel Higham who is bringing his highly-acclaimed show to Oswaldtwistle Civic Theatre tomorrow (see Gigs). With the foul weather we've had over the last few months, I'm sure Summertime Blues will go down a treat.
Eddie was one of the original and best rock 'n' rollers, with hits including C'Mon Everybody, Three Steps To Heaven and Something Else. For details about the show call 01254 380293.
