AN inquest was taking place in Burnley today 21 months after a newborn baby died in hospital.

Baby Charlie Louise Taylor was only 13 hours old when she died on January 19 last year in Burnley General Hospital.

A major inquiry was launched by police and hospital chiefs and two nurses in the neo-natal intensive care unit were suspended on full pay.

In December the nurses at the centre of a baby death investigation were told they would not face criminal proceedings.

Charlie was the daughter of Neil Taylor and Gemma Wadsworth of Colne.

As soon as she was born, Charlie was rushed into the neo-natal intensive care unit but died hours later. Her funeral was held on January 28 last year.

An inquest date was fixed for the late spring this year but the hearing had to be postponed when it was found that one of the nurses was abroad attending the funeral of a close family member.
