A CARPET firm which saved more than £23,500 a year by going green has won a top award.
Cavalier Carpets of Blackburn set up a team to cut down on waste and recycle more.
Now the firm's achievements have won it a third environmental accolade in a week!
The manufacturers took two awards in the Business Environment Association awards at the Dunkenhalgh Hotel, Clayton-le-Moors.
And now it has beaten off competition from across the North West to win the category for small and medium sized companies in the Mersey Basin Business and Environment Awards.
Since Cavalier Carpets set up its waste minimisation team 302 tonnes of waste a year are now recycled rather than going to landfill.
The company is also looking at new production processes to reduce waste even further.
The Mersey basin campaign is a 25 year government backed initiative to bring environmental improvements throughout the Mersey Basin river system area which stretches from Pendle in the North to Crewe and from the Mersey estuary to Derbyshire.
