RAIDERS who carried out a £9,000 burglary at a remote farmhouse in Mellor may have been captured on film.

Burglars used a heavy concrete block to smash their way through patio doors after tampering with security devices.

Security cameras on the track leading to the house in Whinney Lane were moved so they would not cover the approach to the house.

The burglars triggered the alarm but still managed to escape with antiques and ornaments including a distinctive tortoiseshell and brass clock worth £3,000.

The raid took place on Friday lunchtime and a small metallic blue car was spotted leaving the property.

Detectives will examine videos from the security cameras in the hope the burglars were caught on film.

They also want to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and may have seen someone acting suspiciously.

Anyone with information should ring Blackburn CID on 01254 51212.
