LANCASHIRE Lynx begin their build-up to the new Rugby League season tomorrow when they entertain Super League outfit Salford Reds at Chorley, kick off 3pm.

As well as bedding in a re-shaped side it will also be a case of settling back in at Victory Park where the Lynx are returning to play their home games this season.

The Deepdale pitch needs a summer off but Lynx coach Steve Hampson hopes the club will return next year. Hampson has released a few of last season's Second Division championship-winning team, including club captain Andy Ruane, Steve Taylor and Chris Kelly.

New signings include ex-Widnes captain Kyle White, Neil Flanagan from Oldham and most recently ex-St Helens and Bradford player Tommy Hodgkinson.

White will miss the visit of Salford as he waits for his work permit to arrive but the prop forward should be available for next weekend's Silk Cut Challenge Cup first round clash with Askham.

In tomorrow's squad, however, will be triallist David Guest, who will be hoping to impress and win himself a contract.

Despite the restrictions he faces, Hampson is looking forward to his first full season at the helm which gets underway in terms of League action in a fortnight's time.

"We would like to get a few more players on board and the financial side of things is a bit short but we will give it our best shot," he said. After a poor season in Super League last time around, Salford coach Andy Gregory has been more drastic.

He has released most of last season's squad and he has signed no fewer than 11 players to totally revamp his team.

He has signed five Australians including the former Penrith Panthers trio Bobby Thompson, Darren Brown and Garen Casey. The others are ex-Balmain back row forward Hudson Smith and wingman Paul Carige from Parramatta.

Gregory has also signed Neil Baynes from Wigan along with Joey Hayes from St Helens and Craig Makin from Widnes, all of whom are expected to take some part in tomorrow's friendly. The Lynx squad will be: Murray, David Jones, Campbell, Abram, Parsley, Phil Jones, Flanagan, Norton, Donno, Prest, Solomon, Gee, Hodgkinson, Walsh, Neil Briscoe, Smith, Mawdsley, Guest.
