IT WAS a case of "nice to see ya, to see ya nice" when Colne couple Andrew and Sandra Cross finally met up with TV entertainer Bruce Forsyth.

It took almost two years for the couple to win a place on the family's favourite game show, Bruce Forsyth's Play Your Cards Right.

But on Friday millions of viewers across the country will see Andrew and Sandra, of Charles Street, test their luck and general knowledge on the prime time ITV show.

Today they were keeping tight-lipped about how successful, or otherwise, they were.

"All this started about two years ago," explained Sandra, who like husband Andrew, works for BT.

"It's a show we've always watched and enjoyed.

"We're usually at Andrew's parents' house on a Friday and we watch it with them and sort of play along. "They've always said 'you should go on there' and at the end of one show they said how people could apply to take part so they sent off for an application form.

"We filled it in and then didn't hear anything else for ages so we just forgot about it.

"Then about 12 months later we got a letter asking us to do an audition at Liverpool so we went along but then we didn't hear anything again so we thought we hadn't been chosen.

"Then out of the blue last July we came back off holiday and there was a letter behind the door saying they wanted us on the show."

The couple were treated to a weekend trip to London in October to film the game show.

"It was a fantastic experience," said Sandra. "Bruce is lovely and so friendly and he made us feel really as ease."

The couple will appear on Friday on ITV at 7pm.
