A FAIR fight is promised by Blackburn over its bid for city status, with no running down of its rivals.
Quite right, too. And it's high time the town became a city in any case - it has a cathedral, after all.
We support the council in its bid and are glad that the decision will be made by a committee in Westminster.
Just think what could happen if the decision making process was run on the lines of the Olympics.
Just what could Preston, Bolton, Stockport, Warrington or Blackburn offer as inducements - a free ticket to Waves, maybe? Or a walk around Preston Docks?
