A 25-YEAR-OLD Waterfoot man died after being found hanging in a Rawtenstall police station cell.
David Hodgson, of King Street, was pronounced dead at Bury General Hospital last night. He had earlier been found unconscious in the cell.
A police spokesman said he had been arrested earlier in the day for a breach of bail conditions.
Officers and paramedics tried to resuscitate him before he was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The Acting Deputy Chief Constable David Smith had been informed.
An investigation has been launched and Mr Smith has voluntarily referred the matter to the Police Complaints Authority.
