IN fear of an upsurge in divorce proceedings, I thought I had better put the record straight. In reply to 'Wife of a gritter' (Letters, January 21), may I reassure her that her husband was indeed out gritting on the night of Monday, January 11 and early morning of January 12 and three fellow drivers and a supervisor will vouch for him.
So instead of filing for divorce, please have sympathy with him the next time he is called out on a freezing cold night to try to make our roads safe for us to travel on the following day.
PETER HUNT, Acting Director of Direct Services, Blackburn with Darwen Council.
