Blackburn Rovers are hoping their latest signing will shoot them straight to the top of the league.

James Selman, 10, is Rovers' latest star player and Ewood Park bosses are hoping his silky skills will help to bring silverware back to Blackburn - in the table football stakes that is.

Rovers' Football in the Community team scoured local schools and the children's ward of Queens Park Hospital to try to find the best table football player in the game.

And James, a patient at the hospital, beat stiff competition from his friends on the ward to win the chance to represent Blackburn Rovers at the regional table football finals which will be held at Ewood Park in March.

Youngsters representing football cluns from across the North West will be taking part in the competition which is run annually by Football in the Community.
