CARL Fogarty continued his blistering early season form with the second quickest time in testing in Australia today.

But team-mate Troy Corser ended the three-day World Superbike championship test at Phillip Island, Australia, with the fastest time after setting his best lap in this morning's session.

The Ducati riders stayed in front despite the efforts of Castrol Honda's Aaron Slight in the closing stages of Wednesday's action.

Slight blasted his 750cc machine around the 2.76-mile track to finish just 0.2s behind Corser's time. Slight bounced back from illness the previous day to earn the time as 11 riders lapped inside Slight's three-year-old lap record.

"I'm happy with the test although I'd have liked to have got the best time," said Edwards. The 24-year-old Texan added: "I feel in a lot better shape for the championship than I did at this time last year."

Edwards finished ahead of the Kawasaki pairing of Akira Yanagawa and Gregorio Lavilla with Suzuki duo Pier-Francesco Chili and Katsuaki Fujiwara ending the test in seventh and eighth places respectively.

Overall times after three days: 1 Troy Corser, Australia (Ducati) 1m 33.415s, 2 Carl Fogarty, GB (Ducati) 1m 33.588s, 3 Aaron Slight, New Zealand (Castrol Honda) 1m 33.666s, 4 Colin Edwards, USA (Castrol Honda) 1m 33.841s, 4, 5 Akira Yanagawa, Japan (Kawasaki) 1m 34.038s
