ONE thousand UK meat inspectors staged a 24-hour strike and picketed slaughterhouses earlier this month, partly because of the intimidation and abuse they receive from slaughtermen.

By law, all carcasses have to be inspected before they leave the slaughterhouse and some inspectors have been turned upon if they do not pass meat fit for human consumption. One terrified inspector reported being lunged at by a slaughterman wielding a knife.

This provides an insight into the mind of someone who is prepared to slit a sentient creature's throat.

This is just another example of the barbarism in the meat industry and it shouldn't be supported. There is no need for anyone to eat meat and no need for animals to suffer.
