EWOOD Amateurs and Griffin Celtic continue their unrelenting chase for the title of the Colborne Trophies Premier Division, with neither willing to give ground to the other.

Ewood swept to a convincing 8-1 win away to Crown Berger. Griffin had tougher opponents in the form of third-placed Manxman with Griffin taking both points. Manxman however, despite losing, stay in third place.

St Mary's College Old Boys, at home to Old Toll Bar could only draw and drop two places to sixth. Netlon, 3-2 winners against Crown Wallcoverings have moved up three places to fourth.

Railway Hotel have now opened a seven-point lead at the top of the Hi-Tech Replacement Second Division with Centurions once more victims of a postponement, having only played 12 games with another 10 still to play, the problem being that they are going to need maximum points from these games if Railway keep up their present form. St Matthew's are level on points with Centurions from three more games played, the Saints were idle, their scheduled opponents Pleasington being on Cup duty.

Witton Albion got back to winning ways against Blackburn United. Ivy Hotel and Langho drew 2-2 in the only other game played in this division.

In the Third Division, New Gardeners and Anchor Hotel are locked on level points with Gardeners having the superior goal difference. Blue Star, with improved form over the past few weeks, have clawed their way up to third place. Darwen Subs and Alexandra Hotel Res are still in a position to claim a promotion spot.

Shaws of Darwen still dominate the Neales Waste Management Fourth Division. On Saturday they met and defeated close rivals Railway Hotel, Darwen. At the same time Crown Berger Res defeated Blackburn Olympic Res and the top two are now beginning to open a decisive gap. Pleasington C and Grimshaw Park are firmly rooted at the foot of the table. The most disappointed person was the league's fixture secretary. Having burned the midnight oil during rearranging dates for 120-plus league games, plus some Cup fixtures, he now finds he has another batch to deal with following further postponements, but he is still confident that all will be well at the end of the season.
