I WAS a bit puzzled by your article (LET, February 10) on an alleged lorry problem in Great Harwood, because, as you rightly point out, the firm residents were complaining about had all the necessary planning permission, and has helped prosperity in the town for a considerable time.

It seems to me a bit odd that Councillor George Slynn should be making such a song and dance about the issue because he lived in St Hubert's Road for a long time and I don't recall him saying much over the years.

Surely, he cannot be implying that the firm should go somewhere else and the other units also.

That would mean the loss of an awful lot of jobs, and would be a disaster for Great Harwood, which has suffered from lack of investment for years, with the finger being pointed fairly and squarely at the Council and its leader, none other than Councillor Slynn.

Perhaps, just perhaps, with the local elections being in the offing, he is beginning to show signs of panic.
