Following criticisms about the council and councillors I feel I should put before the public some achievements over the the last few years, which we have helped to promote and bring forward.

In Morecambe there's a new railway and bus station, Morrison's and the Festival Market, the superbowl and cinema, the conversion of the old station into The Platform and a new pub, a fantastic piece of restoration, the Victoria Pavilion, the sea defences and Promenade, the Tern Project on the stone jetty, The Morecambe Regeneration Project and coming soon - Poulton Renewal.

In Lancaster there's improvements on the cobbled area around Dalton Square and the Castle, the refurbishment of St George's Quay and the Housing Association development near Carlisle Bridge, the refurbishment of council properties, the re-rendering of properties on the Marsh estate and, soon to be started, a new bus station which is very much needed. As a regular bus user I know that this would be very welcome.

There will also be extra amenity and security lighting, covering many parts of the district. This new scheme has been negotiated for all tenants/residents, and will hopefully enable them to have their say in where money is spent. It is also hoped that tenants will soon be represented on the housing committee.

Surely, these are the things that will bring involvement from the public so that they can see what the council has done and will do. I don't think this has happened before, and further emphasises our achievements. I hope so.
