TODDLER Courtney Fannon will have her first taste of fame at this year's Radcliffe Carnival.

The 13-month-old tot has been named as the Radcliffe Baby of the Year and will receive her trophy at the 34th carnival on June 5.

Parents and their children from throughout the borough packed into Radcliffe United Reform Church at the weekend for the competition with entries split into three categories.

Courtney (pictured), who won the ten to 18 months group, beat off stiff competition to take the overall title.

Proud mum Judith Fannon, of Pear Avenue, Bury, was "delighted" with the success. She said: "I am so pleased. I didn't expect her to win as there was quite a lot of entries in her group and I just thought it would be a nice day out.

"She is a very happy baby and it will be nice for her to appear at the carnival, especially as we have just moved back into the area after living in Scotland."

Runners-up were Radcliffe youngsters five-month-old Chloe Louise Stockley, of Lowton Street, winner of the nine-month and under group, and Jack Crompton (2), of the British Queen Pub, Stand Lane who scooped the 19-month to aged two-and-a-half award.
