WORKERS at the threatened Woodeaves fabrics manufacturers will have to wait for a few weeks to learn of their fate after a special meeting this week. There will be another meeting on Thursday, March 18 after a number of surveys into the company have been conducted for the prospective buyers.

Management and union leaders said they were optimistic that the plant would be bought saving the 123 jobs but were wary of raising false hope.

T&GW negotiator Peter Reid commented: "The company and ourselves are optimistic that the sale will take place but we'll just have to wait. We certainly don't want to raise any false hope."
