IAN MILLWARD is calling for a review of the game's 'on report' system.

The Leigh coach reckons some referees are 'hiding' behind the 'on report' rule.

Instead of making a decision on the pitch, they are leaving the matter to be decided in the committee room.

Last week Widnes centre Chris Percival was eventually cited after being put on report for an alleged spear tackle on Leigh's Stuart Donlan.

On Sunday Whitehaven skipper David Seeds was lucky to stay on after a head high shot felled Phil Kendrick.

"The crazy thing is the referee saw the incident and gave us the penalty," complained Millward.

"Phil left the field with blood pouring from the mouth and with a head full of loose teeth. How much evidence does the referee want?

"The 'on report' method is fine if match officials don't have a clear view of an incident. But, to my mind, both these incidents should have brought automatic red cards."

Former Leigh utility back Jason O'Loughlin, released from Hilton Park in the close season, has joined Lancashire Lynx with ex-Wigan second rower Ian Gildart.
