LOCAL companies are being invited to take part in a sports day to raise money to buy electric wheelchairs for James and Daniel McKindy who suffer from muscular dystrophy.

The event is being organised by Rawtenstall company Rossendale Combining and teams are invited to take part in ten-pin bowling, indoor five-a-side soccer and indoor cricket.

James, 11, and eight-year-old Daniel have been brought up by their grandparents in Rochdale, but their grandfather sadly died in December.

The event will be held at Rochdale Indoor Leisure Centre on April 16 at 2pm and a donation of £100 per team is requested.

Managing director of the fabric laminates and coatings firm Malcolm Gibson said: "We are proud to be hosting this event for James and Daniel and strongly encourage local companies to take part."
