LITTLE Samuel Knowles can play in safety thanks to Rossendale carpet underlay manufacturers Duralay.

Samuel, aged three-and-a-half years, suffers from cerebral palsy and needed special soft matting in the back yard of his home at Grange Crescent, Rawtenstall.

His parents Ian and Bronia asked the Royal Antediluvian Order Of Buffaloes for help and club members were given various prices from companies of up to £1,000.

Then they contacted Haslingden firm Duralay and Bernard Mrozek immediately agreed to provide the matting free.

The King George V Lodge, which meets at the Ram's Head in Rawtenstall organised a special thank-you party for the company at St James the Less RC Church. A Buffaloes spokesman said: "We want to thank the company for enabling us to help him and his parents so that Samuel can enjoy something in life which most of us take for granted."

Last year the buffaloes bought a quad bike for youngster Reece Taylor, of Rawtenstall who suffers from cerebral palsy.
