ST David's Day passed by apparently without any acknowledgement or news report of any celebratory event - except for Prince Charles eating banned beef on the bone at a St David's Day lunch on March 1 in Newport, Gwent.

Red letter days add sparkle to an otherwise monotonous British calendar. The Scots are in evidence to celebrate Burns' Night - January 25 - and through 'Auld Lang Syne,' which we all enjoy on New Year's Eve, but not so for their patron Saint Andrew's Day - November 30.

St Patrick's Day and the wearing of shamrock are the least to go unnoticed, until the English who have to be coaxed into celebration of St George's Day and sporting a red rose on April 23.

But what of the Taffs with daffs and fine leeks of Wales?

Incidentally, can anyone tell me about the Welsh Church which existed in Blackburn from 1906 to 1951?
