I have never been a prolific letter writer so I hope you extend a courtesy to me and print this letter in full. I also find that writing this letter grieves me greatly but David Christley has left me no choice.

Firstly, I gave up the chairmanship of Morecambe Tourism in May 1996. David seems to think he has a good memory, so I am surprised he doesn't remember this, especially as he and the tourism staff presented me with a book on gardening.

This, as anyone can see, was long before David's suspension in 1997. This was a personal decision as I was the chair of two committees whose workload was increasing in leaps and bounds and I found it increasingly difficult to devote the time needed to both. Cllr Janice Hanson took over the tourism committee while I keep on the Morecambe Centre Committee.

Cllr Derrick Stanley,

Hestham Avenue,

Morecambe.
