FUNNY GIRLS will show a serious side later this month, when all the fun will be in aid of the homeless.

The Blackpool transvestite showbar is hosting a spectacular fundraising night on March 25 for the homeless charity Face to Face.

Fylde Mayor Anne Smith (pictured with her husband, Len, and the Funny Girls) will be joining in the fun. It was the mayor, a supporter of Face to Face, who approached the club to put on the event.

Celia Walsh, manager of Funny Girls, said: "Face to Face helps people who have been made homeless through no fault of their own. These are people who had a job and a home and then lost everything. It's the sort of thing that could happen to anyone - a real case of 'There but for the grace of God go I'.

"We hope to raise as much money as possible. It will be the usual show, so regulars will know what to expect. And anyone who's never been to Funny Girls should come along

"It's a magical experience, for people of all ages. We had one disabled lady in the other week celebrating her 94th birthday. She had a wonderful time."

Celia appealed to people to bring plenty of change, as the club will be holding fund-raising raffles throughout the evening.

Funny Girls opens at 8.30pm, and admission is £2.50 on the door.
