REVITALISED Burnley have turned the corner in their relegation scrap but midfield dynamo Lenny Johnrose insists there will be no letting up.

A successful Easter programme on the back of a first win in nine games against Macclesfield Town has lifted the Clarets to 17th-place and five points clear of the Second Division drop zone.

Three more wins may get the Clarets safe. And Stan Ternent's side are desperate to get them in the bag as quickly as possible, starting at Oldham Athletic on Saturday when a victory would put Burnley seven points above the Latics and make Johnrose's weekend reading event better.

"Everyone says they don't look at the table but that's rubbish. Everyone looks at it," Johnrose admitted.

"The lads will be sitting that bit easier now knowing that we've got that five-point gap but the gaffer and Sam (Ellis) won't let us rest on our laurels. We need to win our next game.

"Everyone said that over Easter and the couple of games after that were the most important games we were going to play.

"And if we get a win at Oldham it's going to be a hell of a result for us."

After Oldham, Burnley face another out-of-sorts side in traditional rivals Blackpool at Bloomfield Road next Tuesday night.

And although everyone at Turf Moor is understandably preaching caution and stressing that there's still a long way to go, the Clarets now appear equipped to secure the points they need to stay up.

"It's looking good," added Johnrose. "We are a different side to the one when I first came and we were getting hammered by Gillingham and what have you.

"We're just playing with a bit more confidence and I think if we can do that we are a good side.

"We are going to lose games but I think it's the manner in which we lose them. I think he (Ternent) is going to make sure we don't just throw games away." Johnrose scored his first goal for Burnley following his £225,000 move from Bury in Monday's 3-1 win over Colchester United.

And the midfield man, who started his career as a striker, hopes it could be the first of a few.

"With the crosses we get in you've always got a chance of scoring and it suits me, to be honest, getting in the box.

"And if we can keep creating stuff hopefully I can get on the end of one or two," he said.

The Clarets are guaranteed a bumper following at Boundary Park in a match which will revive memories of last season's game at Oldham in the final week of the campaign which was delayed to let the Burnley following in.

"The supporters are unbelievable," added Johnrose, who finds it hard to believe that Burnley have struggled in front of such big home crowds.

"I think the lads are starting to appreciate what they've got and I think they've been magnificent and were great again on Monday."

Ternent will be hoping for a clean bill of health for Saturday's game but was due to check on Chris Brass's fitness in training today after the defender sustained mild concussion in the win over Colchester.

It's a pay-at-the-gate game at Oldham with prices £12 for adults and £6 concessions. Tuesday night's fixture at Blackpool, which kicks-off at 7.30pm is all-ticket for Burnley fans. Tickets are available for the Kop and paddock priced £10 for adults and £5 concessions.
