LABOUR will be fighting to maintain its traditional stranglehold on Burnley Council.

They are fielding a full team of 17 candidates including two in Rosehill Ward where there are two vacancies.

The ruling group are facing a tough challenge from a mixture of Liberal Democrat, Independent and Conservative candidates.

The list includes nine Independent candidates including two sitting councillors, Harry Brooks in Rosehill and Jack Alston in Lowerhouse.
