AT this stage of the season it's points that count, so Burnley boss Stan Ternent was able to glean a degree of satisfaction from a 1-1 draw at Oldham on Saturday.

"It's a good away point but not a good away performance by the standards we set ourselves, albeit in difficult conditions with a swirling wind and bumpy ground. But a point's a good point," said Ternent.

Burnley fought back well from trailing at half-time to level through the in-form Andy Payton.

But after that improvement, Ternent was disappointed that his side didn't maintain the momentum to press on for an important win.

"I think the players and myself are a little bit disappointed with the performance and I don't know whether you want to put that down to credit to Oldham or that we didn't play just quite as well as we have been recently.

"But again they came back from a goal down so 10 out of 10 for a lot of resilience and a great will to get back in the game and at the end of the season it could be an invaluable point.

"I'm happy with the point but I'm just a little disappointed with the way we played," he added.

However, Ternent stressed that confidence remains high within the Clarets camp thanks to a five-match unbeaten run.

"We go to Blackpool on Tuesday and not losing is a very good habit. Long may it continue," said the Burnley chief.

Burnley's supporters contributed to the second biggest League gate of the season at Boundary Park as they made up around half the crowd of 8,542.

And Ternent is looking forward to similar backing at Bloomfield Road in mid-week.

He added: "The fans have been fantastic all season but the away supporters in particular are just terrific.

"I don't know how many of them were here but it created a great atmosphere and all credit to them.

"I hope they are at Blackpool on Tuesday."
