THE present day phenomenon of mobile phones is presenting problems which could be serious.

While negotiating a narrow winding road in Cumbria recently, a large wagon headed towards me at speed. I pulled over to the side, almost into a ditch, realising the danger it presented.

The wagon passed by with the driver with a mobile phone pressed to his ear, steering with one hand apparently impervious to the risk of his actions.

I think any driver not using these new-fangled communicators in a correct manner should face prosecution.

Drivers wishing to use a mobile phone should pull over at a safe spot and stop and not put other road-users at risk.
