I AM trying to trace any relatives or anyone who knew my grandfather's family, who lived in Preston.
I know very little about my grandfather, as he died when my mother was a young girl.
His name was Peter John Bolton Topping and he was born on January 27, 1882, when his family were living at 70 Fleetwood Street, Preston.
His father was William Topping and his mother was Elizabeth Alice Topping (nee Bolton).
My grandfather joined the Lancashire Regiment when he was a young man and re-enlisted into the Kings Shropshire LI. He won the DSM for outstanding bravery during the First World War and died in Aden in 1920 while on his way to India.
