OLIVIA Brown will never forget her holiday in Turkey - it has launched her on the path to fame and fortune.

The 13-year-old from Blackpool has her eyes fixed firmly on the box after she was chosen to star in new children's television programme Energize, a 10-week sports series starting on May 5.

She was spotted by scouts during a talent competiton and will now appear in three of the half-hour episodes, interviewing young people about sport, their attitudes, likes and dislikes.

In addition the Arnold School pupil will be sharing sketches with Jamie Baulch, Olympic 400m relay gold medallist and main presenter of Energize.

The programmes, which involved a trip to the Millennium Dome for Olivia, aim to increase children's awareness and involvement in sport as well as promoting the Millennium Youth Championship Games.

Olivia said: "I was really quite lucky to get involved with the programme. When I was on holiday in Turkey I won a talent competition. A children's television producer, Kate James, saw me and we had a chat.

"When I returned home she rang me up and arranged for me to get involved on Energize.

"I wasn't really that nervous when the cameras were on and I was more interested than worried. All in all it was really good fun and everybody made me feel very relaxed."

If the programme's ratings are high, Olivia, who admits she would like to pursue a career in television, will be auditioned next year to become a main presenter.

You can catch Olivia's big break on Children's ITV at 4.40pm each Wednesday.
