A BURNLEY consultant who was at the forefront of the development of family planning services in the area has retired.

Jim Ogden has stepped down after 25 years as consultant obstetrician/gynaecologist at Burnley General Hospital.

Manchester-born Mr Ogden was trained in Manchester and was a doctor in the Manchester, Stockport and Salford areas before coming to Burnley in 1974.
