ISN'T it noticeable how the letters pages in most local papers are devoted to local issues, even when there is a war in Europe.

Is this because the editors consider our opinions on the subject are too hot to handle, or are they just playing it safe?

On the other hand, could it be that local people are not concerned enough? Let us speak up now, before the fire gets out of control.

The silence from those who took part in the Second World War is deafening. Why?

F BILLINGTON (Mr), East Crescent, Accrington.

FOOTNOTE: While we concentrate on local issues, we do occasionally carry opinions on matters of national and international importance. The fact is we have received few letters on Kosovo because, I believe most people feel NATO is involved in a just campaign - Editor.
