BURNLEY hospital paediatrician Dr Peter Ehrhardt is the Labour candidate in the Calderdale Metropolitan Council elections in the Todmorden ward.
Dr Ehrhardt, 53, lives in the Shore area of Todmorden.
He has also worked at the Manchester Children's Hospitals, Hammersmith Hospital, London, St James' and at Leeds General Hospital.
He has a smallholding and small flock of sheep at Todmorden and is a governor at Todmorden High School.
The ward is also being contested by local businessman, Philip Brown, for the Conservatives; Charles Gate for the Green Party and Jason Jeffrey for the Liberal Democrats.
Mr Jeffrey was a manager at Heald's supermarket, Todmorden before becoming area controller.
He is also a governor at Todmorden High School and won a by-election to gain a seat on Calderdale Council in 1997.
